Scott Jerger brings his background in technical environmental litigation to his intellectual property litigation practice. He has litigated cases involving patent and copyright infringement claims, patent false marking claims, and argued appeals before the Federal Circuit.

Field Jerger established its reputation in intellectual property litigation by defending KAM Industries in a patent, copyright, and trademark infringement case in federal court in California. This case, Jacobsen v. Katzer, was one of the first cases to address the cutting-edge issue of open source software licensing and led to important opinions from both the California federal district court and the Federal Circuit.

Presently, Field Jerger represents a Japanese company’s American subsidiary against the new wave of patent false marking claims that are being brought across the US and particularly in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, where Scott Jerger (originally a Texas attorney) is licensed to practice.
